Construction Pricing
We are experienced in construction pricing for valuation of variations and claims.
Our development plans include preparing a comprehensive pricing database for Hong Kong construction costs in partnership with IT specialists.
Arbitration, Mediation and Adjudication
Our director, Les Pearce, accepts appointments as an expert witness and advocate in arbitration cases and is an accredited adjudicator.
The high cost of arbitration makes it unsuitable for resolving disputes where the amount in dispute is relatively small or if one or both of the parties does not have deep pockets.
In most cases, the conditions of contract do not permit an arbitration to start until after the whole of the construction works are substantially completed. This restriction can severely prejudice, say, a foundation subcontractor who needs to wait possibly several years after his work has been completed before a case can be brought in arbitration.
Given these drawbacks, our primary focus is to help our contractor or subcontractor clients to resolve contractual issues without the need for formal disputes processes such as arbitration.
In every case where we have been appointed to this role at a sufficiently early stage in the contract, we have enabled our clients to resolve disputes expeditiously and to their full satisfaction.
